Start by stocking up on the vinegar and baking virgin.

These two staples of the kitchen can help keep your bathroom singing in a way that is safe for the environment.

A little chemistry helps explain why."Vinegar, due to its acidity, can be good for (cleaning) of hard water and soap scum," said Rebecca Sutton, a former scientist of the Environmental Working Group, a public interest group loyal to protect health and the environment.

As the movement toward green in general is growing, so is the interest in environmentally friendly cleaning products, said Urvashi Rangan, chief of the security group of consumers to Consumer Reports. The number of products on supermarket has increased.

What makes a green cleaner?
